Skill Needs for Current Employees

The following survey has been developed by the Business Retention and Expansion Committee in order to determine needs of companies and their employees when it comes to skills in industrial maintenance. Please take a few minutes to fill this survey out and submit it via fax (660) 785-2530, snail mail (315 S. Franklin) or pick-up (660) 665-2003.

Electricity

Do your employees work around LOW voltage electricity?

Do your employees work around HIGH voltage electricity?

Do your employees work with the building's electrical distribution system?

Do your employees work on electrically powered equipment within the facility?

Are any technical certifications required for these employees?

What general electrical training would be helpful for your employees to know, so you do not have to call in an outside electrician?

Plumbing

Do your employees repair or replace pumps?

Do your employees work with the potable water system?

Do your employees clean/repair the sanitary sewer system?

Do your employees inspect/maintain natural gas or other flammable gas lines?

Are any technical certificates required for these employees?

The Kirksville Area Technical Center, and K-REDI, along with a technical school (possibly Indian Hills Community College or Linn State curriculum) are thinking of putting some classes/workshops together locally to train local employees. The support of employers is needed for this.
